Toronto Blue Jays preparing for ALDS showdown vs. NY Yankees

The GIST: But wait, there’s more baseball. With the best-of-three Wild Card done and dusted, it’s on to the best-of-five Divisional Series, with four teams each remaining from the American League (AL) and National League (NL).
- That’s right, it’s time for the well-rested Toronto Blue Jays to shine after enjoying a first-round bye. So ready for takeoff.
‼️ Outfielder George Springer leads the charge: With shortstop Bo Bichette still sidelined with a knee sprain, the resurgent Springer has provided Toronto’s offensive spark, closing out the regular season with an impressive .309 batting average and team-high 32 home runs. A postseason veteran and 2017 World Series MVP, expect Springer to keep on bopping with the pressure on.
- And we’d be remiss not to mention hard-hitting first baseman Vladimir Guerrero Jr. — the Canadian kid is so ready for his playoff moment.
▶️ It all begins tomorrow at 4:08 p.m. ET vs. the Yankees: These divisional rivals are extra familiar with each other after the race for the AL East pennant came down to the last day of the regular season. Not only did Toronto claim the crown, but they also won eight of their 13 matchups this year.
- If the Jays can keep the big NY bats at bay — which is admittedly easier said than done against the likes of Aaron Judge — they just might fly to their first Championship Series since 2016.
