Herstory: It was a big weekend for women in football. Safety for Division III school Shenandoah Haley Van Voorhis became the first female non-kicker to play in an NCAA game, kicker Leilani Armenta became the first woman to take the field at Jackson State, and kicker Maya Turner made history in Canada’s USports league. HYFR.
Escape artists: The No. 4 Florida State Seminoles are lucky to have survived ACC rival Clemson 31–24 after the Tigers’ missed field goal pushed the game to overtime (OT). It marked the ’Noles’ first dub over Clemson since 2014.
- No. 12 LSU also raised some eyebrows as they barely beat unranked Arkansas 34–31. Looks like the SEC is *checks notes* still weird.
Wild finish: Northwestern registered the weekend’s second-most thrilling win, overcoming a 17-point second-half deficit to stun Minnesota 37–34 in OT. Someone should put a whiplash warning on these Wildcats.
“Pac-2” Championship: Off-field alliances aside, the Pac-12’s two remaining members went head-to-head. No. 16 Washington State held off No. 19 Oregon State’s fourth-quarter surge to nab the 38–35 win (and jump Oregon State in the rankings). Feeling hot hot hot.
