The GIST: October baseball, meet November baseball. With the rain gone and everyone seeing clearly, all eyes were on the Philadelphia Phillies, who pulled ahead 2-1 in the best-of-seven World Series with last night’s lopsided 7–0 Game 3 win over the Houston Astros.

Game 3 recap: Philadelphia’s phinest designated hitter Bryce Harper started the party with a two-run homer in the first inning, and the Fightins’ never looked back. Third baseman Alec Bohm hit the 1,000th World Series home run everin the second, before the Phils blasted three more dingers. An iconic night in the city of brotherly love.

  • How important was the victory? In previous postseason series that were tied 1-1, the Game 3 winner went on to hoist the trophy 69% of the time. Aka, it’s a BFD.

Game 4 preview: Thanks to the aforementioned rain pushing things back a day, the Phillies can bring back well-rested ace Aaron Nola for tonight’s 8:03 p.m. ET Game 4, a big advantage for the Phils and their shallow bullpen.

  • That said, Nola did surrender five runs in his Game 1 start vs. the high-powered ’Stros offense. We’ll see if he’s been listening to T-Swift.
