How Canada's NHL teams fared to start the playoffs

The GIST: It’s officially the best time of the year: the Stanley Cup Playoffs. With a whole host of teams starting their quest for the Stanley Cup, let’s focus on how the Canadian competitors are faring after their respective Game 1s.
Last night’s games: The Toronto Maple Leafs started things off on the wrong skate, losing 7–3 to the Tampa Bay Lightning on home ice. A familiar pain. Now they’ll need to dig deep for tomorrow’s 7 p.m. ET Game 2 if they want to reverse their first-round curse.
- Over in the Western Conference, despite sputtering into the postseason, centre Adam Lowry and the Winnipeg Jets took flight, securing a 5–1 road win over the conference-winning Vegas Golden Knights. See if they can soar to a 2-0 series lead tomorrow at 10 p.m. ET.
Tonight’s game: Tensions are already at a boiling point in E-Town after the Edmonton Oilers’ 4–3 overtime loss to the LA Kings on Monday. Oilers center Leon Draisaitl scored twice, but legendary captain Connor McDavid failed to register a point, so you know he’ll be out for redemption on home ice tonight at 10 p.m. ET.
