The GIST: From stunning catches to lopsided beatdowns to downright zany plays, here’s everything you need to know from an eventful Week 1 in the NFL. We missed you, football.

Mo money, mo problems: From highest-paid player in NFL history to…benched. That’s exactly what happened to Cincinnati Bengals quarterback (QB) Joe Burrow in yesterday’s brutal 24–3 loss to the Cleveland Browns.

Just keep swimming: Miami Dolphins QB Tua Tagovailoa might just be him. The fourth-year signal caller posted a whopping 466 yards and three touchdowns (TDs) in yesterday’s explosive 36–34 win over the LA Chargers.

Injury bug, begone: Baltimore Ravens running back (RB) J.K. Dobbins suffered a torn Achilles in the third quarter of his team’s 25–9 win over the Houston Texans and will miss the rest of the season.

New kid on the block: 2023 No. 1 overall pick, Carolina Panthers QB Bryce Young, tossed his first career NFL TD to tight end Hayden Hurst, who promptly chucked the keepsake ball into the stands. Whoopsies.

Looking ahead: Week 1 saved one of the most anticipated matchups for last. QB Aaron Rodgers will make his regular-season NY Jets debut when the Green Machine host QB Josh Allen and the Buffalo Bills tonight at 8:15 p.m. ET. Out of the darkness and right into those Monday Night Football lights.
