The GIST: From the opening kickoff to the final seconds, everything came up Philly, as the Eagles dominated the Kansas City Chiefs to win their second title in franchise history. Inner excellence leads to outer excellence…and a Vince Lombardi Trophy, apparently.

How it happened: Philly’s best-in-the-league defense lived up to its billing, sacking KC quarterback (QB) Patrick Mahomes six times and forcing three turnovers, including a pick-six from Eagles birthday boy defensive back Cooper DeJean. Just how good was the defense? KC didn’t even score until the final minute of the third quarter. Complete and utter domination.

  • As for the offense, with running back (RB) Saquon Barkley surprisingly held to just 57 rushing yards and no touchdowns (TDs), Super Bowl MVP QB Jalen Hurts took the ball into his own hands…literally, throwing for two TDs and running in another. Forget jambalaya, revenge tastes best in the Bayou.

Zooming out: After giving up a 10-point Super Bowl lead to these very same Chiefs two years ago, Philly only added to their 24-point first-half advantage to ensure there was no déjà vu in 2025, leading by as many as 34 points in the second half.

  • As for KC, the magic simply ran out for a team that played in 11 (!!!) one-possession games this season. Despite repeatedly eking out close wins in regular-season action, the Super Bowl is a different beast, and Kansas City just couldn’t pull off the historic three-peat.
