The GIST: After a long weekend of just one men’s and three women’s ranked upsets, the NCAA’s hoopers saved all their drama for last night. Buckle up, ’cause this was one wild Tuesday.

The women: The gals had us scraping our jaws off the floor last night. Leading the shockwave was the St. John’s Red Storm, who snapped their two-game skid…by beating No. 4 UConn. St. John's guard Kadaja Bailey and forward Danielle Patterson each posted 20 points in the epic 69–64 dub.

  • Elsewhere, No. 7 Maryland combined a defensive clinic with a scoring bonanza to destroy No. 6 Iowa 96–68. The Terps limited Iowa star center Monika Czinano to only four points, while four Terps posted double-digits. Shook doesn’t begin to cover it.

The men: The fellas also brought the bedlam, led by Villanova, a once-great program that’s been flailing under first-year head coach (HC) Kyle Neptune. But last night, the planets aligned for the Wildcats, who took down No. 16 Xavier 64–63, likely evicting them from the pre–March Madness Top 16 in the process.

  • It was a rough night for the road warriors, too: No. 11 Tennessee continued their late-season collapse, falling 68–63 at No. 25 Texas A&M, and No. 17 Indiana self-destructed to a 80–65 loss at Michigan State. Pain.
