The GIST: Canada’s eh-xellent 24-athlete freestyle ski team is set for Beijing, and we think it’s time you meet some of them.

Who’s returning: The world’s top men’s moguls skier and reigning Olympic champion Mikaël Kingsbury is back for his third straight Games. The true king of the hill.

  • Speaking of a three-peat, ski sisters Chloé and Justine Dufour-Lapointe are about to compete in their third Olympics together. History will be made as Chloé will be the first female Canadian freestyle skier to participate in four Olympic Winter Games.

Stories to know: Marion Thénault — a former gymnast who only started skiing in 2017 (!!!) — is a top contender in the women’s aerials after landing three World Cup podiums this past season. Talk about a 180.

  • Reigning women’s halfpipe Olympic champion Cassie Sharpe is also back on the slopes after suffering a knee injury at last year’s X Games. Nine days to go…but who’s counting.
