Warriors head to Boston with a chance to win the championship
The GIST: After a pivotal 104–94 Game 5 win on Monday, the Golden State Warriors (leading 3-2) are one win away from their fourth NBA title in the last eight years. But they’ll have to beat the Boston Celtics in Beantown tomorrow at 9 p.m. ET to hoist the Larry O’Brien trophy. *bites nails*
Monday’s Game 5: The Warriors secured the win despite Steph Curry failing to sink a three-pointer, ending his 233-game streak of draining at least one three. Who stepped up in his absence? Unlikely hero Andrew Wiggins. The Canadian posted a 26 point, 13 rebound double-double, earning that Maple Jordan nickname.
- As much as Wiggins shined, Boston (literally) gave the game away, turning the ball over 18 times and missing crucial foul shots, leading to their first back-to-back losses since March. Damn.
Tomorrow’s Game 6: Don’t count the Celtics out just yet. They found themselves down 3-2 against the defending champ Milwaukee Bucks in the Eastern Conference semis, then rattled off two straight wins to advance. This team is the definition of resilience.
