Job Listing: College Growth Advisor Program

Ready to help level the playing field? The GIST is hiring for our FIRST EVER cohort of college growth advisors who will take ownership of promoting The GIST on their campuses, and act as an advisory board for our team to better understand the college market.

If you'll be attending a U.S. college this fall and are interested in a paid, part-time gig, an opportunity to directly contribute to the growth of a sports media brand, networking, mentorship, free swag, and more...we want to hear from you!

The GIST is a women-founded startup that creates sports content, experiences and community that are by women and for all sports fans through our free, localized 4x-weekly newsletter, 3x-weekly sports biz newsletter, daily social media and twice-weekly podcast. The GIST will be expanding into college sports news this summer.

Our vision is to become the go-to source for sports for underserved fans.

Since launching across North America in September 2019, our community has grown to over 700,000 GISTers, we have worked with brands like the NBA, FanDuel and Under Armour, and our co-founding team was named to Forbes 30 Under 30 2020.

Who you are:

  • Passionate about leveling the playing field in sports, and sharing The GIST’s mission
  • Plugged into student life on your campus. You know the best ways to reach and engage with your peers
  • You’re entrepreneurial, you think outside the box, and are comfortable working with a lot of autonomy

What you’ll be doing:

  • Represent and amplify The GIST brand on your campus/region — rep our merch, be an advocate for leveling the playing field in sports, and get students stoked on our brand!
  • Execute marketing campaigns to drive students to sign up for our newsletters
    • Choose a campaign from our toolbox, or pitch us a new idea! You know your campus and how to engage students best
    • Manage a marketing budget 
    • Proactively identify new, creative growth opportunities for The GIST
  • Work closely with The GIST team to facilitate the launch of the college sports vertical
  • Advise The GIST team on how to best cater to and target college students
  • As the first cohort of this program, give feedback and help us improve the program for upcoming cohorts
  • Partner with key clubs, societies, teams, student-athletes, and conferences to reach a relevant audience and raise brand awareness
  • Post on socials, get The GIST featured in campus publications

Your objectives:

  • Acquire 1k+ newsletter sign-ups in the Fall 2022 semester
  • Increase awareness of The GIST brand and gain a positive reputation among relevant student groups

Wage: $15/hour (USD)

Term: August - December 2022, with the opportunity to be re-hired for the winter semester
